How to Apply

Application requirements for the University of Wisconsin-Madison are stated in the Graduate School on line application. Each academic department or program requires applicants to submit additional information and materials for its admissions committee. Here are the specific requirements for the Agroecology Master's Program.

Application Instructions:

Submit the following to the UW-Madison Graduate School:

  1. On line application at http://www.wisc.edu/grad/.
  2. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are required for all applicants. International applicants whose native language is not English are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS. All test scores must be submitted electronically by the Educational Testing Service to the University of Wisconsin-Madison (ETS code 1846). Copies or faxes cannot be accepted.
  3. Three letters of recommendation are required and should be submitted by recommenders on line.

Submit the following via surface mail (address below) or via email (except for the transcripts) to the Agroecology Program Administrator Christine Elholm:

  1. Identify which program track you intend to pursue -- Research or Public Practice -- and state why you are interested in this option. Knowing your intention will help us better understand your academic and career goals. In addition, this information will be used to direct your application to faculty who will be in the best position to locate funding for you. We strongly encourage those who wish to follow the Research Option to communicate with potential thesis research advisors. Refer to the list of Affiliated Faculty and feel free to contact members of this group directly.
  2. Submit a one page Statement of Purpose if you did not include it in the on line Graduate School application.
  3. Submit your curriculum vita.
  4. Submit two official copies of your transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate work. Please do not send transcripts to the Graduate School. Your transcripts should clearly indicate the title of the degree that was completed and the date of completion.
